David Farrar will transition from his current position as Head of Sales at Collette Australia into a newly created role as Sales Engagement Manager, Australia. The move is set to take place in August 2025.
According to Collette Managing Director Karen Deveson, the shift reflects Farrar’s personal priorities.
“This decision comes from David’s desire to travel a little less, focus a little more on health, and spend more time with his family – priorities we wholeheartedly support,” Deveson said.
Farrar has held the Head of Sales role at Collette Australia for nearly three years. During this time, he has been a visible presence for the brand across the trade and played a key role in expanding Collette’s profile in the Australian market.
“David’s impact on our team and the footprint he has created for Collette in Australia cannot be overstated,” Deveson said.
“We are set up with a fantastic trajectory, and while we will miss having him in the Head of Sales role, we are incredibly excited for this next phase of his journey.”

In the new role, Farrar will take on a more focused industry-facing position, representing the global tour operator at trade shows and conferences. He will also act as the figurehead for the Collette Travel Agent Network (TAN), delivering regular webinars and updates via the platform.
Farrar said the new role allows him to continue contributing to the company while rebalancing other aspects of life.
“I feel very lucky to be able to reset some lifestyle priorities and yet stay working for a company I love. We have established a great team, and I look forward to supporting the new Head of Sales in taking the business to even greater heights,” he said.
Collette will commence its search for a new Head of Sales for Australia immediately.
Founded in 1918, Collette is one of the world’s longest-running tour operators and remains family-owned. The company offers over 170 tours across all seven continents and five travel styles, including small group journeys and river cruises. It is also known for its social responsibility initiatives and comprehensive travel protection plans.
KARRYON UNPACKS: David Farrar’s shift to an engagement role keeps him visible to agents while Collette seeks a new Head of Sales. It also points to a focus on trade relationships and the growth of the TAN platform.
