The Britannic Explorer, A Belmond Train, will make tracks this month as the first luxury sleeper train in England and Wales, embarking on its maiden rail journey on 21 July 2025 from London’s Victoria Station.
The 18-cabin Britannic Explorer will offer three-night itineraries from London to Cornwall, Lake District and Wales with three Grand Suites and 15 Suites on board.
The eight-carriage train’s interior design has been crafted in the UK by London-based studio Albion Nord, designed to highlight British luxury, landscape and character through bold fabrics, layered textures and hand-selected antiques.
The pioneering train also features another first with the first spa on the rails with a dedicated Wellness Suite in partnership with Wildsmith Skin products.

The luxury sleeper will also provide a curated program of off-board experiences, including sailing and yoga in Cornwall; wild swimming and paddleboarding in the Lake District; and scenic valley hikes, lavender farm visits, wood-fired saunas and art classes in Wales.

Executive Head Chef Sven-Hanson Britt, under the leadership of Michelin-starred chef Simon Rogan, will offer seasonal menus that showcase the finest British produce and a commitment to sustainability in the two onboard dining cars: Malva and Samphire.

The Britannic Explorer General Manager Hendrik Huebner said: “The launch marks a pivotal moment, forging a new chapter in British rail innovation.”
“The new British icon embodies the true spirit of adventure. Offering the ultimate luxury on rails, our guests will discover a new perspective on contemporary Britain.”

Guests can also book a pre- or post-journey stay at The Cadogan, located 20 minutes from London Victoria Station, while those on the Lake District itinerary can enjoy a gala dinner at the Michelin two-starred Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons in Oxfordshire.
The Britannic Explorer joins the rail brand’s award-winning British Pullman and Royal Scotsman, the UK’s only luxury touring sleeper train.
