SLH unveils 'Wellbeing Collection' as new report links travel to better health

Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) has launched a 'Wellbeing Collection' of properties after commissioning a report that showed 89 per cent of respondents said they recognise travel as "effective for achieving holistic rest, supporting emotional, physical, and mental wellbeing".

Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) has launched a ‘Wellbeing Collection’ of properties after commissioning a report that showed 89 per cent of respondents said they recognise travel as “effective for achieving holistic rest, supporting emotional, physical, and mental wellbeing”.

The SLH Wellbeing Collection is a curation of 15 luxury hotels across the globe “that go beyond the spa to provide soulful sanctuaries designed to restore the body, mind and spirit”.

Among the hotels to make the list is Acro Suites in Crete, which hosts workshops on the vagus nerve, ancient Greek bathing rituals, chanting and cacao ceremonies, and has a focus on healthy local cuisine overseen by a Michelin-starred chef.

Secluded eriro in Austria’s Tyrolean Alps made the list for its hands-off approach, allowing guests to create their own wellness journey, choosing from traditional practices or unconventional activities like signing up to learn snowflake-reading techniques.

In Costa Rica, guests can partake in ‘blue therapy’ at Rio Perdido, an eco-resort centred around a thermal river which focuses on water-based healing and “immersive nature experiences”.

SLH Chief Operating Officer Richard Hyde says in today’s “overstimulated, always-on world, meaningful rest has become both a luxury and a necessity, with travel emerging as one of the most powerful tools to support holistic recovery.”

He says the SLH Wellbeing Collection “has therefore been created with intention and care to meet this need for meaningful, comprehensive, and genuinely restorative travel experiences”.

“Following an increased desire from guests for wellbeing and inner sustainability, we’ve created the Wellbeing Collection by carefully filtering the hotels in our portfolio to those that offer heartfelt hospitality where they can immerse themselves in nature-based experiences, local culture, workshops and wellness-focused facilities, to feel enriched and unplug from their daily lives.

“In a world where artificial intelligence is dominating the conversation, its antithesis, emotional intelligence – EI – is the elusive ingredient people struggle to develop in our busy, hyper-connected world.”
