Qantas and Malaysia Airlines have entered a new codeshare partnership, offering direct flights to Kuala Lumpur for better connectivity, shared loyalty benefits and a smoother passenger experience for Australians flying to Malaysia amid record visitation to the South-East Asian nation.
Advisors can now book Qantas codeshare tickets on Malaysia Airlines direct flights from Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney to Kuala Lumpur for travel from 26 October 2025.
It comes as Malaysia Airlines reintroduces and increases many Australian routes for the first time since the pandemic, including Adelaide and Brisbane.

Aussies are also visiting Malaysia in record numbers with Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) data showing 54 per cent growth in the first quarter of 2025, compared to 2019, making it the most popular destination in the region.
From Kuala Lumpur, Qantas will extend its QF flight numbers on domestic flights to popular hotspots Langkawi and Penang as well as Borneo’s Kota Kinabalu and Kuching.

QF will also codeshare on Malaysia Airlines flights between Singapore and KL, restoring connectivity between the cities after the closure of Jetstar Asia.
In turn, Malaysia Airlines will place its code on select QF domestic routes, such as Canberra, Darwin, Hobart and Launceston, for greater access for Malaysian visitors.
More benefits for Qantas Frequent Flyers

As oneworld alliance members, QF and MH already offer reciprocal benefits. Under the new codeshare arrangement, Qantas Frequent Flyers can now earn even more Points and Status Credits on eligible Malaysia Airlines flights.
Qantas CEO International Cam Wallace said: “We’re pleased to deepen our relationship with Malaysia Airlines, making it easier for Qantas customers to travel to Malaysia while enjoying frequent flyer rewards and premium service.”

Malaysia Aviation Group Group Managing Director Datuk Captain Izham Ismail said Australia is a key market in the airline’s long-term strategy.
“Our partnership with Qantas marks an important step forward as we strengthen Malaysia Airlines’ presence in Australia,” he said.
“Our recent investments – including the deployment of the A330neo, increase in flight frequencies and the resumption of services to Brisbane – reflect our commitment to meeting growing demand while enhancing our premium offering in this market.”
