Berkeley River Lodge in the Kimberley will reopen in May 2026 following the completion of a three-year renovation.
Only accessible by air or private boat, the 18-villa property between Darwin and Kununurra will reopen in May after an extensive transformation, along with new “curated experiences”.
Berkeley River Lodge General Manager Hannah Wark says the design vision “draws deeply from the surrounding land – wild, ancient, and extraordinary”.
“Every material is selected for resilience, beauty, and longevity. From high-grade and recycled teak to leather, stone, ceramic, rattan, bamboo, and brass.
“The result is interiors that feel open, grounding, and elevated – spaces that invite barefoot comfort and slow living, with the new in-villa mini bar the perfect final addition as guests listen to the serene sounds of nature in true style.”

Operations Manager Jake Oxenham says in addition to a new look, there will also be a raft of new experiences on offer.
“The Dreaming signature massage is a deeply restorative treatment using a signature blend of hot stone techniques with native botanical oils. Morning Movement Sessions give guests a peaceful poolside start to the day, as the sun rises over the Timor Sea and includes a range of yoga, pilates, stretch sessions and breathwork.
“The Barefoot Barbecue is another new curated experience, providing a unique experience for guests to soak in their surroundings, overlooking the wild Berkeley Rivermouth as twilight transitions to a starlit Kimberley sky, drink in their hand, feet in the sand.”

Wining and dining
Wark says it has also enhanced the “casual-yet-refined culinary offering and connection to this remarkable place”.
“We are working with a consultant to increase our integration of native Australian ingredients, which already feature across the cocktail and dinner menus.
“Across the five-night stay, all guests also experience two degustation evenings and two three-course dining experiences, paired with global wines in a vibrant group dinner setting.
“We will also grow more herbs and vegetables on site, in addition to composting initiatives and re-establishing Australia’s most remote chicken pen.”
