Designed for community and the conscious traveller, Caption by Hyatt has debuted in Sydney and added a second property in Japan to Hyatt’s lifestyle hotel brand lineup in Asia Pacific in October 2025.
Caption by Hyatt Central Sydney opened on 13 October, marking the brand’s entry into Australia, following Caption by Hyatt Kabutocho Tokyo on 7 October, with both hotels’ interior design led by Australian design studio Mitchell & Eades.
The lifestyle concept hotels bring people together socially through an all-day Talk Shop cafe, bar, co-working space and venue, which also features curated programming for locals and guests.

Each property features tech-enabled convenience, locally inspired design and sustainability, aiming to appeal to a new generation of travellers who value authenticity and connection.
Caption by Hyatt Central Sydney brings its brand of lifestyle hospitality to Australia, making Haymarket into a hub of creativity and connection in a sustainable, design-forward setting.

The 174-key hotel offers a range of guestrooms, each with wall art by Sydney artist Chris Yee and illustrations by Melbourne-based creative Samy Baby. Yee and Baby’s pieces are also on display in the hotel’s lobby and communal spaces, along with pieces by Japanese-Australian artist Hiromi Tango.

Sydney’s Talk Shop venue features a menu by chef Yammi Cheung that’s inspired by the multicultural scene on the hotel’s Haymarket doorstep, along with events such as poetry nights, live music and Mahjong sessions for locals and guests alike.

The hotel’s General Manager Temara Exton said: “Caption by Hyatt Central Sydney will introduce a fresh approach to travel. It is all about being a place where our guests are empowered to create their own experiences, and can connect, explore, and stay on their own terms.”

For Japan-bound travellers, Caption by Hyatt Kabutocho Tokyo transforms the city’s historic financial district into a neighborhood of art, culture and culinary creativity — recently recognised as the first hotel in Tokyo to receive Japan’s DBJ Green Building Certification for its sustainability efforts.

The 195-room hotel is located in Nihonbashi Kabutocho – close to subway stations, Tokyo Station, Marunouchi and Ginza and convenient connections to Haneda and Narita airports.
