What’s the story, morning glory? Australian sunrises are going viral with three destinations across the country making the top 10 list of the world’s most beautiful sunrises, according to social media.
UK-based Travelbag holiday specialists analysed Instagram and TikTok hashtag data and found that three of the world’s best sunrises can be found Down Under.
It comes as the brand reports that global searches for “Australia holiday” are up by 22 per cent in the past three months as Brits seek sunshine – and sunrises.
World’s best sunrises
While one of Australia’s most popular holiday destinations – Bali – nabbed the number one spot, Sydney came in second, followed by Melbourne in fifth place and Gold Coast at number eight.
Sydney had the highest hashtag volume on Instagram, while Bali had the most on TikTok.
Other Asia Pacific destinations also made the top 10 list of the world’s best sunrises with Tokyo (7) and Singapore (9) also in the mix.
Miami came in third place, followed by Dubai (4). Toronto (6) and Cancun in Mexico (10) rounded out the list.
World’s best sunsets
Following the golden hour glory, Sydney was also named the fourth-best spot for sunsets in the world with Melbourne (6) also making the top 10 list.
Bali was also the top spot for sunsets globally, according to Instagram and TikTok hashtags, followed by Dubai and Miami and Maldives rounding out the top five.
Other Insta-worthy global sunsets in the top 10 list included Toronto (7), Cape Town (8), Vancouver (9) and Phuket (10).
