The world's most stunning sunset spots revealed; which Aussie icon is among them?

Aussie icon Uluru has been named one of the world’s most beautiful sunset destinations, ranking fourth in a new study by travel insurance experts, AllClear.

The research evaluated 100 global locations based on meteorological factors such as cloud cover, humidity, wind, and rainfall. Instagram sunset mentions also played a role in determining the “Sunset Score”. 

Uluru scored an impressive 79.6 out of 100, thanks to its glowing red hues, contrasting desert backdrop, and pristine surroundings.

The study crowned Cappadocia, Turkey, the best sunset destination with a score of 86.1, offering breathtaking views often enjoyed via hot air balloon. Hawaii’s Waikiki and Arizona’s Grand Canyon followed closely in second and third places, respectively.

Other standout spots included Edinburgh in 10th place for its vibrant skies and Bali’s Uluwatu in 11th, a favourite for Aussie travellers.

With Uluru’s global recognition, the study highlights Australia’s unique landscapes and their magical golden hours.

“Dramatic sunsets are universally adored, inspiring awe and wonder at the phenomenal beauty of nature. Many of us actively seek out stunning sunsets, both at home and when we travel abroad,” AllClear’s Sarah Collinson said.
