The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection’s ship Ilma has been awarded the world’s first five-star cruise ship rating in the Forbes Travel Guide 2026 Star Awards.
Forbes Travel Guide’s 68th annual Star Awards list covers more than 100 countries, and Ilma is the world’s first – and only – five-star cruise.
The ratings are objective, independent and data-driven. Incognito inspectors pose as everyday guests, checking into hotels, boarding cruises, trying spa treatments, and dining at restaurants to test hundreds of exacting standards – always paying for their stays.

Forbes says of IIma, “the 790-foot superyacht features 224 spacious suites, all with terraces and sophisticated décor, and an attentive ‘suite ambassador’ who will do everything from unpack passengers’ luggage to helping arrange a special dinner”.
“The vessel comes with restaurants from acclaimed chefs Michael Mina and Fabio Trabocchi, an 11-treatment-room Ritz-Carlton Spa and two infinity pools, including one on the top deck.”

Forbes Travel Guide President of Ratings Amanda Frasier adds, “Our coveted Five-Star award is not given; it is earned through our exacting, incognito evaluation process”.
“The Five-Star recognition is not just about delivering an exceptional guest experience, but about delivering it consistently from reservation service to disembarking – earning the guest’s trust and confidence. This doesn’t occur by happenstance, but through dedication and coordination.”

The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection President and CEO Ernesto Fara says its entire ethos was to redefine travel at sea through service, care, and attention to detail.
“Ilma’s recognition as an industry first underscores a new era of ultra-luxury voyages and reflects years of dedication from our ladies and gentlemen, both on board and ashore, who deliver exceptional experiences for our guests every day.”
