Oceania has ordered its fifth ship in the Sonata-class, delivered in 2037 the cruise line says it “underscores global demand for the line’s next-generation fleet”.
Oceania Sonata will debut the new class of ship when it’s delivered in August 2027 in what the cruise line says will be “a new era of elevated luxury with one-third more space, all-new suite categories and reimagined top-of-ship accommodations”.
There will also be two “state-of-the-art” culinary experiences: La Table par Maîtres Cuisiniers de France, the first restaurant at sea created in collaboration with Maîtres Cuisiniers de France; and Nikkei Kitchen, celebrating the fusion of Peruvian ingredients and Japanese techniques.

Oceania Cruises Chief Luxury Officer Jason Montague says the new class of ship will set the benchmark for space, artistry and residential comfort, adding “a record launch day for Oceania Sonata in January, reflects enthusiasm from discerning travellers and valued travel partners”.
“The record-setting demand affirms that travellers are seeking choice, connection and authentic experiences.
“The addition of a fifth Sonata-class ship allows us to provide our guests even more enriching, experiential travel opportunities.”

Earlier this year, the luxury cruise line announced it is now adults-only, catering exclusively to guests 18 years and older.
Montague says guests consistently said that the tranquil environment is one of the primary reasons they return to the cruise line.
“We conducted extensive research, which provided feedback from loyal repeat guests, experienced travel partners, and new-to-brand guests.
“Feedback consistently showed that guests choose us for the serene atmosphere, sophisticated service and unhurried pace, traits that are highly sought after and valued by mature, affluent travellers.”
