AirlineRatings.com has just released its 2026 World’s Best Airline Awards, ranking global carriers across all categories by the inflight product and passenger experience. From full-service to hybrid and low-cost carriers, here’s the 2026 world’s best airlines.
For full-service airlines, Qatar Airways nabbed pole position in 2026 for another year, followed by Cathay Pacific in second spot and Singapore Airlines in third. Korean Air and Taipei’s STARLUX Airlines rounded out the top five world’s best full-service airlines.
2026 World’s Best Airlines – full service

AirlineRatings.com CEO Sharon Petersen said: “It was a tight competition at the top, but Qatar’s value proposition, combined with a superior economy product and award-winning business class, secured that top position once again.”
Only one Australasian carrier made it into the top 10 best full-service airlines for 2026 with Air New Zealand coming in at ninth place. Qantas achieved 12th place.
Japan Airlines took out sixth spot with Turkish Airlines (7), Emirates (8) and Etihad Airlines also in the top 10 world’s best full-service airlines list.
2026 World’s Best Hybrid Carriers

Virgin Australia achieved a coveted third place in the 2026 world’s best airlines list for hybrid carriers, which offer a mix of full or low-cost service depending on the length of the flight.
VA also won World’s Best Cabin Crew for the eighth year in a row.
Virgin Australia Group CEO Dave Emerson said: “Winning World’s Best Cabin Crew for the eighth year in a row is something we’re incredibly proud of, because it’s all about our people.”
“Being ranked in the top three hybrid airlines globally alongside that recognition for our crew really reinforces that we’re delivering great service, strong value and a consistently wonderful experience right across our network.”
Lufthansa topped the list of 2026 world’s best hybrid airlines, followed by Canada’s WestJet in second spot. Delta Air Lines and United Airlines rounded out the top five.
2026 World’s Best Low-Cost Carriers

Australia’s Jetstar took out second place in the 2026 world’s best low-cost carriers (LCCs) list, pipped at the post by HK Express in the top spot for the first time.
Peterson said: “HK Express may not appear the obvious choice for the world’s best low-cost carrier, forgoing extras like Wi-Fi and inflight entertainment that many top 10 competitors now offer. However, where it wins is its consistently excellent cabin crew and undoubtedly the world’s best low-cost carrier onboard menu.”

Peterson added that Jetstar stood out for its onboard inflight entertainment options and in-seat power. Jetstar was also awarded the world’s best low-cost long-haul airline.
AirAsia Group achieved third place in the 2026 world’s best airlines rankings of LCCs, followed by AirBaltic (4) and Scoot (5).
The 2026 best airlines rankings provide a useful benchmark for advisors comparing global carriers across service tiers. For travellers, the results highlight regional representation across all categories, offering a mix of premium, hybrid and value-driven options, depending on client needs and budgets.
