The results of the annual Roy Morgan Customer Satisfaction Awards are in, and two airlines – one a major global carrier and the other, an airline that just five months ago was still in administration – have taken out the major gongs for ‘Travel and Tourism’.

Picking up the award for 2025 International Airline of the Year in the consumer-led competition was Singapore Airlines, marking the global carrier’s sixth consecutive win in the category and 10th win overall.

“We are grateful to Australian travellers for their continued trust in SIA. Australia remains an important market for the SIA Group almost 60 years on from our first operations Down Under in 1967,” Singapore Airlines regional vice president South West Pacific, Foo Chai Woo said.

“This recognition reflects the continuing work of our teams in Australia and across our network, who remain focused on delivering reliable operations and thoughtful customer care both on the ground and in the air.”

The carrier also recently announced it will boost capacity across several Australian routes in 2026 and 2027, adding flights, upgrading aircraft and reintroducing Suites Class to Melbourne. The airline will also launch flights to Western Sydney International Airport from 23 November 2026.

Still winning

Air T’s support could strengthen Rex’s operations and restore confidence in regional flights.

Meanwhile, Rex Airlines, whose future was in doubt last year after entering administration in 2024, proved it is still a popular choice for regional flyers by winning the Domestic/Regional Airline of the Year 2025 award, edging larger rivals Virgin Australia, Qantas and Jetstar.

“Rex is proud to be recognised with the Roy Morgan Customer Satisfaction Award for Domestic/Regional Airline of the Year 2025 – for the second year running,” the carrier stated after receiving the award.

“At the heart of this award is our team and the regional communities we serve. Every day, our team delivers genuine, heartfelt hospitality while connecting regional communities. Thank you for your continued support.”

In late 2025, US-based investor Air T took full ownership of the regional carrier, ensuring it will continue to connect Aussie regional and remote communities.

The Roy Morgan Customer Satisfaction Award are based on annual feedback from more than 60,000 consumers and 12,000 business decision-makers.
