Viking Cruises has officially taken delivery of the Viking Mira, with the ship becoming the latest addition to the company’s growing ocean fleet.
Delivered at Fincantieri’s Ancona shipyard in Italy, the small vessel features 499 staterooms capable of carrying 998 guests and will spend its inaugural season sailing Mediterranean and Northern Europe itineraries.
The Viking Mira has also been built with future technology upgrades in mind. According to Viking, the vessel has been designed to allow retrofitting as next-generation propulsion systems become commercially available.
That future is already taking shape. Viking’s next ocean ship, the Viking Libra, is currently under construction and is scheduled for delivery in November 2026. The company says Libra will become the world’s first hydrogen-powered cruise ship capable of operating with zero emissions. Another hydrogen-powered vessel, the Viking Astrea, is due to follow in 2027.

“Our guests are curious travellers, and the arrival of a new ship allows us to offer them even more opportunities to explore the world in Viking comfort.
“We look forward to welcoming guests on board the Viking Mira during her inaugural season and for many years ahead.”
What’s next?

Perhaps most significantly, Mira’s delivery signals the start of a major rollout for the cruise line. Viking expects to add 24 new river ships by 2028, alongside nine additional ocean ships and two expedition vessels by 2031.
Once current orders are completed, Viking’s fleet will total 114 river ships and 26 ocean and expedition ships by 2031.
