Marriott opens its 10,000th property with luxury hotel in India's Rajasthan region

Marriott has opened its 10,000th property, the 127-room JW Marriott Ranthambore Resort & Spa in the Indian state of Rajasthan.

Marriott has opened its 10,000th property, the 127-room JW Marriott Ranthambore Resort & Spa in the Indian state of Rajasthan.

The opening comes a year out from the company’s 100th anniversary, with the 10,000th property carrying the name of hotel group co-founder J. Willard Marriott.

The 127-room resort is a short drive from Ranthambore National Park in Rajasthan, one of India’s best-known tiger reserves.

After days exploring the local wildlife, guests can return to have a tailored holistic treatment in the spa, work out in the gym, or cool off in the swimming pool.

Marriott president and CEO Anthony Capuano says the company was founded 99 years ago as a “nine‑seat root beer stand”, and, as of today, has grown into a global portfolio of 10,000 properties spanning 146 countries and territories.

“I’m immensely proud of this tremendous milestone, made possible by our global teams and the owners who continue to place their trust in our brands.

“Marking this accomplishment with a property carrying the brand is especially meaningful given it’s named after our co-founder.

“He and Alice S. Marriott built an incredible legacy of opportunity, service, and innovation that we’re privileged to carry forward.”

The new Lindeman Island resort

Last month, the luxury hotel group revealed its Le Méridien brand will debut on Lindeman Island in the Whitsundays.

Expected to reopen in late 2027 following a A$60 million redevelopment, Le Méridien Lindeman Island Resort & Spa will be a “contemporary island retreat” across a 70-hectare beachfront site.

The resort will have 200 guest rooms and nine suites, alongside restaurants, event spaces, a spa, pool and indoor golf.
