There’s less than 100 days until VisitBritain will welcome back those well-built rugby players & an influx of tourists as the Rugby World Cup returns to its birth day place, Britain.
VisitBritain and the British High Commissioner officially kicked off the countdown to the major sporting event this week during the UK’s Festival of Rugby.
On hand to help mark the occasion were Wallaby Greats George Gregan and Phil Waugh and current Wallaby Israel Folau who took part in a Q&A at the British Consul General’s residence.
In London, Prince Harry and Jonny Wilkinson launched the start of a 100 day Trophy Tour across Britain as the Webb Ellis Cup set off from Twickenham Stadium where the Wallabies will play England on the 3 October.
Rugby players join VisitBritain to kick off the Rugby World Cup countdown.
This year, the event the rugby competition will run for six weeks from 18 September to 31 October.
During that time, VisitBritain is expecting fans from participating countries, including Australia, to make their way to the UK to cheer on their teams.
The last Rugby World Cup was held in New Zealand in 2011 and attracted some 133,200 international rugby fans.
It also gave New Zealand an opportunity to raise its profile as a host destination and generate awareness of its range of experiences.
Eleven cities in England and Wales will be on display during the Rugby World Cup 2015, they include Birmingham, Brighton, Cardiff, Exeter, Gloucester, Leeds, Leicester, Manchester, Milton Keynes, Newcastle and London.
