Qantas links Aussies to 20+ South American destinations via new airline deal

Qantas and Chile's SKY Airline have launched an interline deal giving Aussie and Kiwi travellers single-ticket access to 20+ South American destinations.

Qantas and Chile’s SKY Airline have launched an interline partnership, giving Australian and New Zealand travellers single-ticket access to more than 20 South American destinations, now bookable through the GDS.

The new interline agreement lets QF travellers connect onto the Chile carrier’s South American network, reaching more than 20 destinations across Chile, Peru, Argentina and Brazil on a single journey.

The partnership is available for booking now via GDS and technology partners. Bookings can be made on Qantas (QF 081) and SKY Airline (H2 605) ticket stock.

For Australian and New Zealand travel advisors, it adds more South American connectivity to a QF ticket, opening up onward links for both leisure and business travel clients heading to the region.

It’s the latest move in QF’s growing network of airline partnerships, having recently added Philippine Airlines to its Frequent Flyer partner network.

The Santiago-headquartered low-cost carrier was founded in 2001 and operates a modern Airbus A320neo and A321neo fleet across South America.

The LCC flies an expanding network throughout Chile, Peru, Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay with a wider international footprint linking Mexico, the Dominican Republic and the US.

The interline agreement means clients can book a connected itinerary that combines a QF service with regional flights, rather than buying separate tickets and managing the connection themselves.

Why SKY is pushing into Australia and New Zealand

The QF deal follows the Chile carrier’s recent BSP activation and the appointment of AVIAREPS as its general sales agent (GSA) across Australia and New Zealand, signalling a serious play for the local trade.

SKY Airline also holds interline partnerships with a string of major global carriers, including Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa, SWISS, United Airlines, Air Canada, TAP Air Portugal, Air France, KLM, Air Europa and Aerolineas Argentinas.

AVIAREPS General Manager Australia & New Zealand Emilie Groleau said: “We are delighted to bring SKY Airline’s extensive South American network to the Australian and New Zealand market. This partnership with Qantas creates exciting opportunities for travellers looking to explore more of South America through seamless connectivity.”
