As the winner of Rail Plus’ recent VIA Rail incentive, Cassandra received $5000 towards two return tickets to Canada.

In addition she won a free journey for two on VIA Rail’s The Canadian between Vancouver and Toronto in the train’s new Prestige Class, and accommodation at Fairmont properties in Vancouver and Toronto.

Taking her 10-year-old son along with her next week, Cassandra will extend the trip to include a few days in New York.

She said she was overjoyed to win the incentive because she’s passionate about rail.

“I have booked so many clients on The Canadian and on rail trips around the world because I think there is something unique about seeing a destination from the perspective of a train.”

“Sometimes it’s not about how fast you can get to a destination, it’s about the journey itself.”

Launched in 1955, The Canadian is a four-day trans-continental journey through some of the world’s most beautiful landscapes.

The train’s new Prestige Sleeper Class allows travellers to enjoy the scenery surrounded in elegant comfort, with spacious cabins featuring large windows, private bathrooms with showers, flat-screen TVs and minibars.

Josselyn Layton from Harvey World Travel Bribie Island won a $100 voucher as runner up in the Rail Plus VIA Rail incentive.
