Wellness tourism is often described as travelling to seek improved health and well-being, through physical and spiritual activities.
Asia is in the forefront of such getaways because of its peaceful practises and popular massages.
According to hotel booking site, Wego’s Chief Marketing Officer Joachim Holte, the spa and wellness industry values tourism at US$3.4 trillion – a number that’s expected to continue to grow exponentially each year.
“Wellness tourism is no longer a niche industry and has made a solid impact on global tourism overall.”
Joachim Holte, Wego Chief Marketing Officer
He continued, saying some destinations such as Bali automatically imply relaxation and recharge by their very nature and reputation, while others are credited for their peaceful offerings after being experienced.
