Premium Economy passengers will feel more like privileged Business flyers once Virgin Australia completes a major redesign of the class onboard its entire Boeing 777 fleet.
Well, that’s the hope.
The airline unveiled a major upgrade to the class, which is expected to kick off from late 2015.
Changes will see cabins fitted with 24 seats, each offering a seat pitch of 41 inches. They’ll also have more legroom than any other Australian airline, according to Virgin.

Cabins will have 24 seats with more leg room.
In-seat power will be provided via USB outlets and amenity packs will deliver blankets, pillows and REN skincare products.
There’ll also be the introduction of a plated meal service inspired by business class, which is tailored to guests and accompanied by a selection of wines from the Business Class cellar.
A Premium Larder for self-service food and beverages for the exclusive use of Premium Economy guests will be introduced as well as crew trained to offer Premium service.

A snack bar will be available to Premium guests.
Passengers will also be able to choose different variations of their meals, with different garnishes, along with the time and speed of service.
Making the airport process a little faster, Virgin said it will create a dedicated check-in for Premium passengers featuring priority boarding and priority luggage (up to 64 kilograms of baggage).
Once complete, Virgin’s Chief Customer Officer expects Premium Economy will offer services that “many other airlines reserve for Business Class”.
“The Premium Economy cabin itself will be more spacious and comfortable, with more legroom than any other Australian airline and new cushioned seating to make the journey more restful.”
Mark Hassell, Virgin Chief Customer Officer
