Ash from Java’s Mount Raung is making it difficult for airlines to fly to and from Bali again, forcing Virgin Australia to cancel all flights for today.
In an update, the airline said advice from its team of meteorologists and the Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre is that conditions around Denpasar Airport have deteriorated and it is ‘no longer safe for flying’.
As a result, the carrier has decided to cancel all flights in and out of the airport for today.
Ten flights in total have been cancelled.
The airline is reviewing the situation and would advise of any further delays or cancellations at 6.00pm tonight.
In the meantime, travellers will be advised of their new flight details via SMS or email, or they can contact the Guest Contact Centre on 13 67 89.
“We continue to monitor the situation closely. The safety of our guests and crew is our highest priority and we will keep customers updated as new information becomes available.”

The airline has offered to waive all fare differences for guests who are booked to travel to Denpasar by 28 July 2015 and wish to switch their travel to one of 12 other island and coastal holiday destinations.
