Ash disrupts Jetstar flights to Bali

Jetstar flights to and from Bali were cancelled last night as volcanic ash from Java's Mount Raung moves closer to Indonesia's international gateway.

Jetstar flights to and from Bali were cancelled last night as volcanic ash from Java’s Mount Raung moves closer to Indonesia’s international gateway.

Jetstar advised of the cancellations on Twitter at around 11.30pm yesterday, telling followers than ash from the Mount Raung eruption in Java was disrupting operations at Denpasar International Airport.

Nine flights have been affected by the ash. They are:

  • JQ90-91 – Cairns-Denpasar (2 July) / Denpasar-Cairns (3 July)
  • JQ116 – Perth-Denpasar (2 July) / Denpasar-Singapore (2 July)
  • JQ127 – Adelaide-Denpasar (2 July)
  • JQ18 – Denpasar-Adelaide (2 July)
  • JQ35/36 – Melbourne-Denpasar (2 July) / Denpasar-Melbourne (2 July)
  • JQ37/38 – Sydney-Denpasar (2 July) / Denpasar-Sydney (2 July)
  • JQ83 – Darwin-Denpasar (3 July)
  • JQ107 – Denpasar-Perth (3 July)
  • JQ117 – Singapore-Denpasar (3 July) / Denpasar-Perth (3 July)

The airline didn’t indicate when flights would return to normal. However, said it was monitoring the situation and would notify travellers once they know more.

In the meantime, the low-cost carrier apologised to affected travellers and thanked them for their ongoing patience.

Passengers with a valid ticket issued on 2 July 2015 or 3 July 2015 who are affected by the volcanic disruptions can either rebook their travel on an alternative flight between the same destinations within seven days of the intended travel date; or request a refund in Jetstar travel vouchers to the value of the fare purchased on the original affected flight.

Mt Raung in Indonesia erupted last weekend, sending ash some 3,500 metres into the sky.
