Tigerair maps out a new domestic route

Virgin's low-cost carrier, Tigerair, seems to be on a mission to provide greater access from Melbourne to the rest of the country.

Virgin’s low-cost carrier, Tigerair, seems to be on a mission to provide greater access from Melbourne to the rest of the country.

The airline today announced a new flight between Melbourne and Coffs Harbour starting from December this year.

It comes a month after the airline revealed additional weekly services between Melbourne and the Gold Coast as well as a completely renovated Terminal 4 at Melbourne Airport, to offer budget travellers access to latest airport technology.

New Coffs Harbour flights will depart three times weekly, delivering over 1,000 additional seats to the airport per week.

Tigerair first launched services to Coffs Harbour from Sydney in February 2013 when it became the airline’s first intrastate route. With the new services between Melbourne and Coffs Harbour, the airline now delivers over 2,000 visitor seats weekly through Coffs Harbour Airport.

Tigerair Commercial Director Adam Rowe said this is further good news for consumers, tourism and the economy as Tigerair continues to respond to consumer demand with new international and domestic services, as part of the airline’s transformation.

Tigerair can visit Coffs Harbour’s iconic Big Banana.

“We are confident this new route will be popular with both local Coffs Harbour residents and Melburnians seeking an affordable getaway.”
