Flight Centre is calling on travel industry friends to show their support for four of its team members who will embark on a gruelling charity hike of the Kokoda Trek.
Andrew Malon, Adam Sheehan, Bobby Hale and Jason Nooning have spent the last eight months training six times a day to build up the strength to embark on the trail.
Swapping their desks for kayaks on 12 Octoboer, the men will walk 200 kilometres across the sometimes treacherous Torres Strait, followed by a short plane trip to commence the momentous task of trekking the notorious Kokoda Trek in only three days.
Typically an eight-day trail, the fast-tracked Kokoda Trek is in support of the Flight Centre Foundation’s charity partner, the Kokoda Track Foundation.
Student Flight National Product Leader, Andrew Malon is under no apprehensions about the degree of difficulty this challenge has in store.
“The CY2K challenge will certainly test us all in body and mind; however is something we have trained six times a week for the past eight months to achieve.”

Jason Nooning, Flight Centre’s Product Range Owner, said he liked living outside his comfort zone to help the less fortunate. Prior to this, Nooning had only been kayaking twice.
“It’s so easy to forget the hardships encountered on a daily basis by those in need both here in Australia and overseas,” he said.
“It’s great to push past the envelope of discomfort and remind ourselves of what it means to go on an adventure.
“To know that it’s all to benefit a great cause makes the journey all the more worthwhile.”
Wearing their ‘heart on their paddle’, these brave boys have every hope of drumming up some much needed sponsorship for the challenge, hosting ‘World’s Greatest Travel* Auction*’ (and other fun stuff) at Cloudland on Thursday 10 September at 6pm.
Since 2008 the FCF has donated more than $7 Million dollars to its partner charities and emergency appeals via workplace giving. Through the CY2K project the Foundation aims to grow this number and grow awareness for the Foundation and its partners even further.
Andrew, Adam, Bobby and Jason will kick off their journey on 12 October in Cape York. To follow their journey, attend the event or click here to make a donation.
