You can carry suitcases, wheel them, or you can… drive them?
There’s a new Kickstarter campaign attracting thousands of interested travellers because it proposes building the first rideable carry-on luggage.
Just to clarify – you actually sit on your luggage and drive it to the terminal. No seriously, check out the video above.
Hoping to take the woes (and shoulder pains) out of travelling, the campaign has already attracted some $15,392 in just 29 days.
The brainchild of US-born Kevin O’Donnell, he explained that the idea for the project came after seeing his children climbing his suitcases.
This lead to the big question, ‘why can’t adults ride luggage too’?
So with the help of professional motorcyclist Boyd Bruner, the pair installed motors into suitcases and turned them into the world’s first drivable and rideable suitcases.
Modobag can travel three times faster than the average walking speed or 8mph. It also carries riders of up to 260lbs or 117kgs and has a mile range of five with a single charge.
You’re probably now thinking: ‘Okay so I ride my suitcase that’s cool, but aren’t those motors going to weigh a lot?’
The answer, according to Bruner, is no.
He explained that the Modobag is of super lightweight design.
While it may be the world’s first official drivable suitcase, we feel like the company may have been inspired by a Chinese man who last year unveiled his very-own motorised suitecase, which travels at a speed of up to 20 kilometres per hour and has a life battery of six hours.
