Flight Centre & the Sunrise crew arrive in London

Sunrise’s trip around the world continues & Flight Centre’s Social Media Specialist, Millie Yervantian is right alongside them. Here’s her day two blog from London.

We set off to London at 9.00am and arrived to an absolutely hustling and bustling Heathrow Airport at 2.00pm.

There was a surprise waiting at the airport for Kochie. Georgie his daughter had only just moved to London and was there to greet him and the crew at the airport. We later found out that this was because Kochie was in fact carrying a whole suitcase full of Georgie’s clothes from Australia.

While the rest of the team rushed through makeup and set up the outside broadcast at Potters Fields Park on the south side of Tower Bridge was being set up, Kochie enjoyed some quality time with his youngest daughter.

It was a rainy day in London, but we fought off the poor weather and set up marquees to bring the show live from the Tower Bridge to millions of Aussies.

Thankfully the weather cleared up in time for the live broadcast but the freezing cold remained. Shivering in 12 degrees, we decided to hijack a whole heap of blankets for the crew and even picked up some delicious takeaway pasta.

As we prepared the live stream, an Aussie crowd of expats turned up with a heap of energy and signs for family and friends back home – it was quite an emotion sight.

The team signed off thanking one of the viewers for their suggestion to try some of the bakery treats at Harrods before leaving, which they tucked into at quarter past midnight local time.

Then it was back to the Pullman at St Pancreas, where Kochie and Georgie were spending some quality time together over a few drinks and everyone else was hitting the sack for the precious 4 hours sleep before leaving for New York.
