Apple technology continues to make its way to the sky as Fiji Airways becomes the latest airline to offer its Business Class passengers an iPad programed with the latest in-flight entertainment.
Commencing 1 November 2015, the iPads will be available on Boeing 737 flights, which means Aussies will have access to the portable entertainment device when flying to Fiji.
The tablet will be pre-loaded with 23 movies, 19 TV shows and a range of music artists.
By March 2016, the airline expects the onboard entertainment selection on the iPad IFE will increase, offering over 100 hours of inflight entertainment.
“This is an exciting product upgrade for Business Class guests on our B737 fleet, and will offer them convenience and choices we haven’t been able to offer before on this aircraft type”
David Bowden, Fiji Airways acting-CEO
He continued, explaining that it will also enhance on-demand service for Business Class guests and will compliment the airline’s existing award winning inflight services, menus and wines.
The iPad based IFE enhancement is part of the Fiji Airways overall upgrade on IFE content across its entire fleet.
The airline has signed an agreement with Global Eagle Entertainment Inc., (GEE) for provision of on-board entertainment content. This includes increased movie and TV show selections on both aircraft types (B737s and A330s) and the ability to offer inflight video advertising.
The Boeing 737 fleet operates of services to and from Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii and the Pacific Islands.
