AFTA Board: MTA's Roy Merricks elected as Director while incumbents stay on

Roy Merricks is joining the Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) Board following Friday's AGM, which saw Tom Manwaring re-elected as Chair and Christian Hunter and Skroo Turner as Vice-Chairs.

Roy Merricks is joining the Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) Board following Friday’s AGM, which saw Tom Manwaring re-elected as Chair and Christian Hunter and Skroo Turner as Vice-Chairs.

AFTA Chairman Tom Manwaring (Express Travel Group) said, “he was confident Merricks would be a willing and positive contributor to the running of AFTA.”

Mr Manwaring and Mr Turner (FCTG) joined David Smith (Flight Centre), Spiros Alysandratos (Consolidated Travel), and David Greenland (Reed & Mackay) in being re-elected for a two-year term.

These 6 Directors will join the existing directors whose term expires next year:

  • Christian Hunter (Traveller’s Choice)
  • Shelley Beasley (Webjet)
  • Laura Ruffles (Corporate Travel Management aka CTM)
  • Jo Sully (AMEX Business Travel)
  • David Padman (Helloworld)

The announcement followed the news that after more than a decade’s service as a Director of the Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA), Julie Primmer had resigned from the AFTA Board.

Outgoing AFTA Director Julie Primmer said, “It’s been an honour to have been part of the AFTA Board over these past ten years.
