ALOHA SPIRIT: Hawai'i Tourism launches its Month of Lei today

The month of May starts today (2019 where have you gone?), but for Hawai'i Tourism Oceania, today also marks their annual Month of Lei, celebrating the spirit of Aloha and the Hawaiian Islands.

The month of May starts today (2019 where have you gone?), but for Hawai’i Tourism Oceania, today also marks their annual Month of Lei, celebrating the spirit of Aloha and the Hawaiian Islands.

Across the Hawaiian Islands, Lei Day is celebrated on May 1st annually, recognising Hawaiian culture.

Here in Australia, Hawai’i Tourism will be using The Month of Lei to present several events and destination training to trade media and Travel Agents.

Representatives from the visitor bureaux of Maui, O‘ahu, Kaua‘i and the Island of Hawai‘i will be joining Hawai‘i Tourism Oceania for the celebrations.

Hawai‘i Tourism Oceania will also partner with Helloworld, Viva Holidays and Excite Holidays (did you see the awesome competition they launched earlier this week?) to launch marketing campaigns, activations and incentives as part of the Month of Lei activities.

Giselle Radulovic, Country Manager Australia for Hawai‘i Tourism Oceania said Month of Lei was the tourism board’s way of engaging both trade partners and consumers with the spirit of Aloha.

“Each year in May, Hawai‘i Tourism Oceania brings the spirit of Aloha to Australia by inviting key media, trade and partners to celebrate the occasion with representatives from the Hawaiian Islands,” she said.

“The month is a significant event for Hawai‘i Tourism Oceania, as the Hawaiian Lei is the physical embodiment of the spirit of Aloha symbolising kindness, altruism and generosity.”
