There are plenty of people in your life who don’t listen when you ask for something. Unlike your teen/partner/that co-worker who insists on blaring awful music, Mastercard Cash Passport™ have heard what you and your clients have asked for and made changes. A whole slew of changes. Read on to discover what’s new.
Cash Passport is not only the brand that listens – ever evolving based on your feedback and the way Australians travel – they are your clients’ safety net when heading abroad.
It’s the ultimate convenience; to be able to safely load your travel savings in one place and spend as you would with any other Mastercard card worldwide.
And we mean safely, as your Cash Passport-holding clients have access to 24/7 global customer support, emergency card replacements (and even cash advances, if needed), low-balance alerts, and peace of mind for fraudulent activity on their card. There’s even complimentary Purchase Protection cover.
All that, and there is still new news? Yes!
Cards you can tap

One of the biggest updates we’re stoked about is that Google Pay™ has gone live today, and Apple Pay™ is coming. Woohoo.
Australians who prefer contactless payments from their phone or smartwatch and want their account number hidden from vendors can now add Cash Passport to their digital wallet.
Once set up, the Cash Passport system intelligently selects the loaded currency according to the country your clients are in. If they’re in Vegas splurging on an all-you-can-eat buffet, it’ll select USD. If they’re in Mykonos paying for a sun lounger, it knows to pull from the Euro wallet.
If the correct currency isn’t loaded or there aren’t enough funds, it will pull from AUD or other available currencies and convert accordingly.
Accessing Cash Passport with Google Pay (and soon Apple Pay) means your clients can use it in-store, in-app, and for online purchases wherever Mastercard is accepted.
Cards you can hold

Cash Passport cardholders still automatically receive a physical card (unlike a lot of the competition), which they can use online, in-store, or at the ATM.
There are travellers who still prefer to hold a card, rather than store it digitally, who trust their capable hands or old-school money belt over using an app.
There are also instances where a card needs inserting into a card reader, or cash withdrawn from an ATM.
Whether it’s the little lemon ornament from an Amalfi Coast boutique, that must-have antique at Camden Market, or the hand-crafted bag from a mum-and-pop roadside stall, having a physical card means no matter what, you’re getting that souvenir.
Six new wallets

If you haven’t checked lately, you might have missed that there are six new currencies that Cash Passport holders can lock in the exchange rate on ahead of time*. This is ideal for travellers looking to set and forget their rates, so they know exactly what bang for their buck they are getting while on holiday.
Here’s what’s new:
- South African Rand (ZAR)
- Swiss Franc (CHF)
- Swedish Krona (SEK)
- Danish Krona (DKK)
- Norwegian Krona (NOK)
- Fijian Dollar (FJD)
This joins the line-up of AED, AUD, CAD, EUR, GBP, HKD, JPY, NZD, SGD, THB, and USD.
And in case you’ve forgotten, even if your clients are travelling somewhere with a different currency, they can simply load in Aussie dollars and spend in over 140 currencies worldwide.
Let’s say your clients are heading to Africa via Dubai to see the Big Five in Kenya, followed by a spot of decadence in Cape Town’s wine region.
During their layover, they can pay for their airport meal and duty-free shopping with AED. When they get to Kenya, their expenses will come from their AUD account, and all their lazy vineyard lunches and the Franschhoek Wine Tram in South Africa will come from the funds they’ve locked and loaded in the new ZAR wallet. Too easy!
Cash Passport have also removed the debit card fee for customers reloading through the Cash Passport app or MyAccount^, saving them even more bucks.
More to come…

We’re not sure that the team at Cash Passport sleep. Or maybe they have a tag team to hit all their big goals, because word on the street (aka, they told us), is that there are so many more exciting enhancements coming this year.
