“There’s a reason the Avis Scholarship has been around for 22 years,” Sales Manager Pacific at Avis Budget Group Jenny Lorkin told us at yesterday’s launch luncheon. “It’s because we are always evolving and we have our finger on the pulse”.
Jenny is referring to this year’s push for applicants to apply via a YouTube or Vimeo video, rather than in the traditional written format.
“We really wanted to have that space available for candidates, we think it’s a fabulous way of getting your story across,” she said.
“Through a video application, you are able to get your real personality across. I think it is a really powerful medium and it is the focus this year”.

If you missed it, applications for this year’s renowned Avis Travel Agent Scholarship opened yesterday. You have until 12 October 2018 to enter and finalists will be announced on 25 October 2018.
Jenny encourages everyone to enter – even if you don’t make the cut as a finalist she will be providing feedback to anyone who wants it.
“It’s a great touch point for how you are performing,” she said.
An awards dinner and winner announcement will take place in November 2018.
During the launch luncheon at Aria in Sydney yesterday Sales Manager Pacific at Avis Budget Group, Steven McDonald said this year’s focus would be on extraordinary customer service and innovation.
“It’s about rewarding the Travel Agents for what they do well.”

He confirmed that the judging panel would include past winners and senior executives from sponsor companies.
