Flight Centre & World Exp aim to raise $1m for charity through adventurous travellers

Travellers have been invited to put their next holiday to good use by taking part in Flight Centre & World Expeditions' newly launched Community Million Dollar Challenge.

Travellers have been invited to put their next holiday to good use by taking part in Flight Centre & World Expeditions’ newly launched Community Million Dollar Challenge.

Unveiled this week, the new fundraising initiative invites Flight Centre customers booking select World Expedition tours to use their holiday as an opportunity to take on a new adventure and raise money for one of five charities.

The pair set a goal of $1 million funds raised for charity within a two-year period, and here’s they hope to do it:

ALL ABOUT THE CHALLENGE

The Community Million Dollar Challenge runs over 24 months from January 2020 to December 2021 and is divided into 12 adventures, which are tailor-made for the challenge.

Every month, the adventure will change as will the destination in which it takes place.

For example, in January 2020 and January 2020, travellers who book a World Expeditions trip to Tasmania are invited to challenge themselves by climbing Cradle Mountain and using the climb as an opportunity to raise money for RUOK?

There’s also the 9-day Inca Trail Explorer trip running in March 2020 and 2021 that dares travellers to climb Machu Picchu and collect funds for Youngcare.

Other destinations included in the challenge are Vietnam, Cambodia, Nepal, Europe, Africa, China and New Zealand. Click here to see the full list of adventures.

“Our vision is to provide a platform for travellers to use their collective voice to raise awareness and funds for each of these worthwhile charities.”

Sue Badyari, World Expeditions Chief Executive

HOW TRAVELLERS CAN GET INVOLVED

Travellers need to book one of the select World Expeditions trips exclusively at Flight Centre to be part of the challenge.

World Expeditions will manage ground arrangements and Go Fundraise will offer advice about fundraising.

World Expeditions will donate the first $100 to each participant at the time of registration.

WHY YOU SHOULD CARE

Raising money for a good cause – what isn’t there to care about?

But if you need more, the $1 million will go towards supporting five charities and their causes. They are RUOK, RedKite, SolarBuddy, Foodbank and Youngcare.

It’s also an opportunity for travellers seeking opportunities to give back while they’re away as they’re also pushing their limits and boundaries.
