Flight Centre’s Travel Academy has wrapped up 2024 on a high, connecting more than 800 students with tourism jobs. The academy’s general manager Cameron Boyd said the record number of enrolments shows interest in travel careers is booming.

“Our students come from all walks of life – some are young and just getting started, while others want to upskill or build a new career entirely,” he remarked.

“We’re uniquely positioned to not only educate our students, but because we are part of the industry, we can also provide them with very real jobs at the end of the program, both directly with Flight Centre Travel Group and through our valued hotel, aviation and tourism partners.

“This year our aviation program received the most enquiry and we have supported more than 200 students to graduate and secure jobs as cabin crew, airport support, aviation logistics and customer service professionals.”

Boyd specifically flagged the academy’s Whitsundays program, a “firm favourite” that has helped more than 500 students land jobs and promotions.

“The placements in paradise have ranged from hospitality to cruise attendants and lifeguards across our incredible partners at Hamilton Island, Daydream Island, Cruise Whitsundays, Coral Sea Resort, Club Wyndham and Mantra Club Croc,” he added.

“Our newest pathway in sustainability is also attracting attention as we offer pathways through industry-leading organisations such as Intrepid, G Adventures and Reforest.

“2024 has been a record year for us in many ways, be it welcoming more than 800 students to the program, or launching our first school partnerships.

“We now work with schools to showcase tourism to students in years 10-12, offering students the chance to kickstart their tourism diploma in year 12.

“We have also started running personal development days both at our head office and online for teachers of tourism and business.
