International film star Liam Neeson lends his voice to a Tourism Ireland film celebrating the greenest day of the year and invites the world to visit the Emerald Isle.

Liam Neeson is wishing the world a Happy St. Patrick’s Day for a new Tourism Ireland campaign. Liam’s dulcet tones have reached legendary status, with his latest being more poetic and lyrical.

Liam’s voice will be heard as part of a 60 second film that includes stunning footage of the island of Ireland, interwoven with iconic images of Tourism Ireland’s annual Global Greenings that take place every year in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day from the leaning Tower of Pisa to the London Eye.

Each year thousands of landmarks, iconic sites, statues, buildings and even people and their pets go green to celebrate Ireland and St. Patrick’s Day. The Colosseum in Rome and the Sacré-Coeur Basilica in the fabled district of Montmartre will be going green for the first time in 2015. Other sites going green for the first time include Sydney Town Hall, Ada Bridge in Belgrade, Serbia and the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. The new sites will join some ‘classics’ which have gone green in previous years including the London Eye, the Allianz Arena in Munich, the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio De Janeiro.

Liam Neeson and Tourism Ireland are putting a call out to anyone with a love of or an interest in Ireland to #GoGreen4PatricksDay by watching and sharing the video – and is extending an invite to come and experience all Ireland has to offer.

“I’m delighted to be helping Tourism Ireland celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. It will be wonderful to see the world turn green again on the 17th March as nations come together to celebrate the fun and warmth of the Irish.”

Diane Butler, Manager of Tourism Ireland Australia and New Zealand said: “We are deeply grateful to Liam Neeson for his support in attracting visitors to Ireland and celebrating the global greenings that we undertake each year. The success of our Global Greening initiative is due in no small part to the great work that has been carried out by Irish people across the world. “Many people around the world feel a deep spiritual connection to Ireland and more than 70 million people claim links to the island of Ireland so St. Patricks Day is the perfect moment to reconnect them with their heritage. It’s great to see the Global Greenings going from strength to strength.”
