Looking for a role model to help shape your career in tourism? Look no further than Intrepid Travel’s boss James Thornton who was recently celebrated for his leadership skills & contributions.
Thornton was named joint Hospitality and Tourism Executive of the Year at CEO Magazine’s 2018 Executive of the Year Awards, which recognises the exceptional contributions made by CEOs, managing directors, and senior management.
CEO Magazine praised Thornton for his efforts in increasing business revenue and profits (AU$341 million and AU$10.7 million), while keeping staff content (81 percent employee engagement score) and making a conscious effort to protecting the planet.
“In line with Intrepid Group’s strategy of ‘Growing with Purpose’, James’s efforts over the last two years have seen noticeable improvements across the board.”
Thornton said he was humbled by the recognition, and was proud to lead a group that puts as much effort in meeting growth and milestone targets as it does in sustainable environmental and cultural practices.
“I’m equally humbled to accept the award as I am to lead Intrepid Group.”
