KARRYON FAM WRAP: Exploring Iceland & Bhutan

Work hard; play hard. That’s the universal travel agent’s motto, right? RIGHT! Yes, you love to make other people’s dreams come true, but sometimes it’s nice to pack your bags and set off on your own adventure too.

Work hard; play hard. That’s the universal travel agent’s motto, right? RIGHT! Yes, you love to make other people’s dreams come true, but sometimes it’s nice to pack your bags and set off on your own adventure too.

Famils are going strong (shout out to all the wonderful companies that you sell) and we love to see your happy little faces while overseas.

That’s why we’re bringing you a weekly famil wrap, so we can all have a nose as to what you’ve been up to and to give you some extra bragging rights, because, let’s face it… the travel industry is the best industry in the world? #travelforlife

Can you spot yourself or someone you know?

Iceland’s Contrasts on Display for TravelManagers

Karryon Fam Wrap

Iceland’s largest waterfall, Skógafoss, near the small village of Skógar, provides a towering backdrop for TravelManagers’ Alison Parker.

Iceland is a small country of big contrasts: steaming lava fields and vast glaciers, towering waterfalls and deep fjords, icy lakes and warm people.

Collette Tours recently invited 34 Australian travel advisors on a seven-day famil to sample the diversity of this fascinating country,  where they explored the Golden Circle, on a tour that started and finished up in Reykjavík, Iceland’s capital.

Jökulsárlón

“I was most impressed by its spectacular scenery and the ingenuity of the locals in harnessing its natural resources. Seven days really only skimmed the surface of what’s on offer, so I will recommend that my clients stretch their stay to ten to fourteen days, especially if they want to visit the northern region as well.”

Personal Travel Manager’s Travel Dreams Fulfilled in Bhutan

Karryon Fam Wrap

TravelManagers’ Kate Bevan started her Bhutan self famil in its capital, Thimpu, seeing sights which included this vast Shakyamuni Buddha statue which commemorates the centennial of the Bhutanese monarchy.

When Lonely Planet recently revealed their list of the top ten countries to visit in 2020, Bhutan was ranked at number one: a feat which came as no great surprise to TravelManagers’ Kate Bevan, who recently spent a week fulfilling a long-held dream to visit the tiny, landlocked kingdom.

Bhutan had been at the top of Kate’s bucket list for a long time, but the cost and logistics involved in getting there had kept her away… until now.

When the opportunity arose to tour Northern India on a famil with China Travel Services, she jumped at the chance to add on a self-organised famil to Bhutan.

“I’m excited to show my clients that there are still some beautiful, untouched places in the world, waiting to be explored.”

Kate Bevan, TravelManagers’

“Bhutan has the cleanest air I’ve ever breathed, scented with the slightest tinge of cypress and lemongrass – as soon as you step off the plane you are enveloped by it, while the eyes are soothed by countless shades of green. It has been described as heaven on Earth and the last Shangri-La – this is not underselling it, and I struggle to find the words to describe the serenity, peace and kindness of its people and I can’t wait to return.”
