Platinum Travel Group’s Carl Buerckner has been honoured at the agency’s 15-year celebrations in Tasmania for 50 years in the travel industry.
Buerckner’s career began in the 1970s at National Australia (NAB) Travel and he has held several leadership roles, including Managing Director of HRG Australia and Chair of AFTA.
During the event, Carl’s children, Andy Buerckner and Sarah Szubanski – who now head Platinum – paid tribute to their father’s unwavering dedication to the industry.
“When we think about our father, words like trustworthy, determined and reliable always come up,” says Sarah.
“He is a true champion of the travel industry and has left an undeniable mark on all who have had the privilege to work with him.”
Szubanski says Buerckner’s influence extends far beyond his family and his commitment to building and nurturing high-quality relationships and partnerships, both in Australia and globally, has laid a strong foundation for Platinum’s continued growth and success.
Andy added, “Carl’s mentorship has been instrumental throughout my career and has been key to ensuring that Platinum is recognised as an organisation that deeply cares about its people.”
“His values of trust, accountability and care remain the pillars of our business, and we are incredibly proud to carry his legacy forward.”
