MORE FUN ON THE ISLANDS: Advisors splash around in the Philippines

The island life proved to be the right kind of life for a group of Travel Advisors after being treated to a short & sunny escape to the islands of the Philippines.

The island life proved to be the right kind of life for a group of Travel Advisors after being treated to a short & sunny escape to the islands of the Philippines.

The Philippine Department of Tourism invited 32 consultants from Australia, plus a representative from Philippine Airlines, to participate in its inaugural reverse roadshow in Cebu and Manila.

Running in October last year, the new project invited pre-qualified, independent travel managers from MTA Travel, itravel and TravelManagers to the Philippines, to offer essential information on tourist destinations and tours, and provide the ability to build relationships directly with travel suppliers based in the Philippines.

Norjamin Delos Reyes, Tourism Attaché at Philippines Department of Tourism Australia and New Zealand, said nothing compares to first-hand experience, which is why the group was invited to see for themselves why the islands are “truly world-class destinations”.

The reverse roadshow had two business to business sessions (one in Cebu and one in Manila), providing the group of independent travel managers with access to a larger pool of tourism suppliers that are DOT-accredited in these cities.

“The roadshow also aimed to highlight the sights and experiences in Manila and Cebu; which are the main gateways for Australian travellers visiting the Philippines,” Reyes explained.

“As independent travel managers handle a wide variety of clients, including corporate and incentive travellers, the reverse roadshow aimed to reveal the diversity that Cebu and Manila offer as travel destinations.”
