New aircraft, major profits and now a new boss – Fiji Airways is building its business and it’s doing it with Andre Viljoen at the helm.

 

The airline announced today the appointment of Viljoen to the role of Chief Executive and Managing Director, replacing current head Stefan Pichler.

Commencing in the new role from 1 October this year, the Attorney General and Minister for Public Enterprises, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says Viljoen has ‘big shoes to fill’.

Over the last two years Pichler has completely turned Fiji Airways’ business model around, with new branding, new aircraft and big profits.

Announcing Viljoen’s appointment, Fiji Airways’ Chairman Nalin Patel said Fiji Airways Board is extremely pleased that the Company would be led by someone, who as CEO of Air Mauritius, had transformed the airline, restored it to profitability, and attained the coveted Skytrax 4 Star rating for product and service.

According to Fiji Airways, Viljoen has 33 years of professional experience in the airline and tourism industries and has been the CEO of Air Mauritius since 2010.

Mr Viljoen said he’s excited to join the airline and build on the “its strong brand and lead its dedicated team to even greater heights”.
