New aircraft joins Fiji Airways fleet

In order to keep up with its expanding network, Fiji Airways has welcomed a fifth Boeing 737-800 to its fleet.

In order to keep up with its expanding network, Fiji Airways has welcomed a fifth Boeing 737-800 to its fleet.

 

Arriving this week, the aircraft – Island of Ovalau – is being leased, but still features Fiji Airways’ livery and designs.

Inside, the aircraft has eight Business Class seats and 162 Economy Class seats.

Fiji Airway’s fifth Boeing 737 touches down in Nadi.

Although it arrived on Wednesday, the aircraft won’t take its first official Fiji Airways flight until Friday.

The aircraft will be used to add more daylights flights to Brisbane and additional services on Fiji Airways’ Auckland and Sydney routes.

It will also allow the airline to add new flights from Christchurch.

Fiji Airways’ Chairman said the aircraft joins the fleet at an ‘important time’ as the airline seeks to strengthen its position as a leader in aviation.

“We will be able to further strengthen our position as the leader in aviation in the Pacific. It aids us in developing partnerships within the region, like the recently announced codeshare with Air Vanuatu and partnerships we are looking to put in place in Tonga.”

Fiji Airways has been focused on expanding its reach in the Pacific region, and even signed an agreement with Air Vanuatu last month for a new codeshare agreement on seven flights per week. Read on

The codeshare applies on services between the two island nations.

Meanwhile, Fiji Airways revealed in February this year that since its rebrand profits have been rolling in and even climbed to $62.5 million for the nine months to December last year. Read on
