Capella Sydney has appointed former Sofitel Sydney Wentworth Commercial Director Lucas Gimenez Polcheira as Director of Sales and Marketing.
Capella Sydney General Manager Marc von Arnim says the new appointment comes as Capella “further strengthens its position as we continue to lead the way as masters in the craft of hospitality”.
He says Lucas will oversee all aspects of the hotel’s sales and marketing strategy, focusing on expanding the hotel’s market reach, driving revenue across multiple channels, and fostering key partnerships.
Lucas will also be responsible for building the hotel’s reputation as a leading luxury destination, “ensuring a seamless, elevated guest experience across all touchpoints”.

The hotel opened in March 2023 and was the first property under the Capella Hotels and Resorts brand to open in Australia.
In 2024, the hotel was awarded Australian Hotel of the Year and Best Luxury Hotel and at the HM Awards for Hotel and Accommodation Excellence (HM).
It was also named Best Deluxe Accommodation in Australia at the Australian Hotels Association (AHA) Awards for Excellence and recognised as Best Luxury Hotel or Resort – Australia, New Zealand & South Pacific at the Luxury Travel Gold List Awards.
