Intrepid Travel has announced the reappointment of Brett Mitchell as Managing Director ANZ, once again overseeing the tour operator’s Australian and New Zealand region.

Intrepid Travel has announced the reappointment of Brett Mitchell as Managing Director ANZ, once again overseeing the tour operator’s Australian and New Zealand region.

Having worked at Intrepid for more than a decade, most recently as Chief Sales Officer, Mitchell’s knowledge and expertise will be critical in rebuilding the region to pre-pandemic levels.

The move follows the news of Sarah Clark’s departure from Intrepid, as she takes up a new role in her home state as CEO at Tourism Tasmania.

James Thornton, CEO at Intrepid, said: “I’m thrilled to welcome Brett back into this role. His operational expertise and knowledge, along with his tenure within our business, allows him to lead our team with clear direction and will play a pivotal role in delivering sustainable and responsible travel experiences across Australia and New Zealand.”

In his new role, Mitchell will be overseeing Intrepid’s direct and industry sales and marketing strategies in Australia and New Zealand, as well as leading the development of Intrepid’s local investment companies, including Haka, ANZ Tours, JOOB and CABN and will sit on the Chimu board.

“I am very pleased to take on the role of Managing Director ANZ, where we are well positioned to grow with purpose through our vertically integrated business here in Australia and New Zealand,” says Mitchell.

“It is my firm view that we are still in the early stages of a significant growth period in sustainable travel, and I look forward to working with all of our partners to grow this category and ensure Intrepid’s ongoing leadership in this space.”

Clark will remain at Intrepid until mid-November before beginning her role at Tourism Tasmania in the new year.
