Hawaiian Airlines’ Regional Director for Australia & New Zealand, Gai Tyrrell, has announced her departure from the airline in order to pursue an “exciting” opportunity within the travel industry.

The news of Gai’s departure was confirmed by Hawaiian Airlines this morning, which said her last day with the carrier will be at the end of this month.

In a statement, the airline said that Sales Director AU and Partnerships and Promotions Manager AU/NZ, Karen Macmillan (pictured far right above), would step in as interim leader for the Australian team, while Russell (Rusty) Williss would continue on as Country Director for New Zealand.

Gai joined Hawaiian Airlines in 2014 and lead the carrier through a major growth period within the Australian market, including a large expansion of the local team, upgraded aircraft and additional services.

Working closely with Hawaii’s tourism leaders, Gai also heavily contributed to the increase in Aussies travelling to the island state who are staying longer than ever before and visiting multiple islands.
