Intrepid Travel has added Meegan Marshall as the tour company’s first dedicated Chief People Officer, a newly created role that will lead and support 1,790 global team members in 26 offices with operations in 112 countries.
From the brand’s Melbourne HQ, Ms Marshall will lead all aspects of global people and culture for Intrepid Travel, joining the core management team and reporting to CEO James Thornton.
Previously split across the ‘Purpose’ sector of the business, the new Chief People Officer role ensures the certified B Corp continues to support a purpose-driven, diverse and inclusive culture in a high-growth environment.
The role will also entail a strategic focus on talent attraction and retention within Intrepid.
While new to the travel sector, Ms Marshall was the Chief People Officer at RMIT and has held senior people roles at Treasury Wine Estates as well as being a long-time Intrepid traveller.

In November 2022, Intrepid had the highest sales record in its entire 30 years of business.
As the company continues to grow, the new Chief People Officer role aims to bring a stronger focus to its people from tour leaders to technology professionals and beyond.
