A new year will bring in new leadership over at P&O Cruises as Sture Myrmell takes the reins from Ann Sherry.

The current Senior Vice President will step into the role of full-time President from Sherry on 1 January next year, who steps down after eight years.

Sherry’s departure comes after her appointment to Executive Chairman for Carnival Australia where she will continue to work closely with the Australian cruise line.

However, Sture will be responsible for managing the brand’s day-to-day operations and overseeing the arrival of the line’s sixth ship, Pacific Explorer.

Sherry said the appointment of a full-time, stand-alone president reflected the line’s growth in the market.

“All of Carnival Corporation’s brands around the world have a standalone President, and Sture’s appointment is recognition of the value and power of P&O Cruises in Australia and New Zealand.”

“Importantly, it is also wonderful acknowledgement of Sture’s leadership in transforming P&O Cruises into a product that is like no other in the marketplace and one that truly reflects modern Australia.”

Sture has extensive experience in the industry, starting his career 22 years ago working with Carnival Australia’s high-end brand, Cunard.

He worked his way up the ladder to Director of Food and Beverage with Cunard to Director of Hotel Operations at Princess Cruises before landing the VP role at P&O Cruises.

“I have enjoyed working alongside Ann over the past eight years and have learnt from the best.”
