With 22 years of travel know-how and more than a decade at Ignite Travel Group, Rod Carrington has taken the reins as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). A familiar face in the Australian travel industry, Carrington has played a pivotal role in shaping Ignite’s success since joining the company in 2013 as Head of Product.
Over the years, Carrington’s strategic leadership and deep understanding of the industry have propelled Ignite’s My Holiday brand and product divisions to new heights. Now, as CCO, Carrington is set to steer the award-winning travel company through its next phase of growth and innovation.
A decade of leadership at Ignite Travel Group
Starting as Head of Product in 2013, Carrington’s leadership eventually saw him managing both Ignite’s My Holiday brand and its product team. Now, as CCO, Carrington will oversee key areas of growth, including wholesale, touring, and air, along with the My Holiday brands.
He’s also got partnerships on his plate, like the growing relationship with ALDI Holidays, which allows Australian shoppers to book exclusive holiday packages through the supermarket’s new online portal.
UK-born and travel-seasoned, Carrington earned his stripes at Flight Centre Travel Group and as General Manager of Infinity Holidays UK before crossing hemispheres to join Ignite. Now, his role as CCO feels like a natural fit.
“Having been an integral part of the Ignite family for 11 years, I’m thrilled to see Carrington’s career and Brightness of Future continue to thrive,” CEO Ryan Thomas said.
What Carrington’s promotion means for Ignite’s future
Rod Carrington isn’t just settling into a new office chair; he’s gearing up for what he calls an “exciting new chapter.”
“I’m honoured to step into this new role here at Ignite, a company I’ve proudly called home for the past 11 years,” he said.
“Our industry is dynamic and ever-evolving, and I’m excited to help lead our incredible team as we continue to innovate and deliver unforgettable travel experiences.
“2024 has been a momentous year for everyone here at Ignite Travel, with so much to celebrate and be proud of. As we look to 2025, I know we will continue to innovate in the travel industry.
This year Ignite Travel Group smashed records, inked a deal with ALDI Holidays, and capped it off with an exciting UK acquisition announced in October. But if you thought they’d hit cruising altitude, think again. Carrington’s promotion signals Ignite’s plans to keep climbing.
