Movers + Shakers: Tourism WA names Anneke Brown as Managing Director

Tourism Western Australia has appointed experienced hospitality and hotel project manager Anneke Brown as the new Managing Director to oversee the state’s marketing and promotion as a desirable travel destination, effective from 9 December 2024.

Tourism Western Australia has appointed experienced hospitality and hotel project manager Anneke Brown as the new Managing Director to oversee the state’s marketing and promotion as a desirable travel destination, effective from 9 December 2024.

Brown brings more than 25 years of international, national and local leadership experience to her new role, including senior positions with global and national hospitality brands, including COMO Hotels & Resorts, AVANA, Aman Resorts and Voyages Hotels & Resorts.

In addition, Brown runs her own tourism and hospitality consultancy business and is the Women in Tourism & Hospitality WA Chair, a Rottnest Island Authority Board Member and a former Tourism Western Australia Board Commissioner.

Tourism WA Board Chair Di Bain said Brown’s extensive tourism and hospitality background will drive further success for the agency.

“Anneke’s comprehensive and varied leadership experience and advanced knowledge of the tourism and hospitality industry will strengthen the incredible work of Tourism WA in promoting the state as a highly desirable travel destination,” she said.

Tourism WA’s 10-year strategy

Brown said she looks forward to leading Tourism WA for her five-year term as the agency implements its ambitious 10-year tourism strategy.

“I have been a passionate advocate of Western Australia and the local tourism industry for 25 years and I am thrilled to soon lead Tourism WA as a world-class tourism organisation that continues to deliver outstanding results for the state,” she said.

“I look forward to elevating this success to even greater heights as the agency embarks on a ‘Dream Decade‘ through the continued implementation of the WA Visitor Economy Strategy, which aims to increase the size of the visitor economy to $25 billion by 2033.”
