1. A&K appoints new Sales Manager for NSW/ACT

A&K

Camilla MacInnes has recently joined Abercrombie & Kent as Sales Manager Southern NSW/ACT to work alongside Beth Ellicott.

Camilla has worked in the Travel Industry for over 25 years, predominantly in wholesale travel and business development, and brings to A&K her passion for travel and her love of amazing travel experiences.

Camilla is a strong believer in the integral role of the Travel Agent.

A&K says her expertise is invaluable when it comes to planning the right holiday for their clients.

She is looking forward to assisting consultants in promoting A&K’s unique travel experiences and portfolio of destinations.

Widely travelled, Camilla has visited Europe, Asia, India, the Middle East, Latin America and North Africa, but a safari the ‘A&K way’ is something she’s looking forward to experiencing soon.

 

2. Former Crystal Cruises chef enter Castaway kitchen

Chef Markus Nufer has returned to his home in Fiji to become Executive Chef of Castaway Island Fiji after a career with five star cruise line Crystal Cruises.

Markus was only 15 when he began cooking in Zurich in his native Switzerland and by 19, had obtained his degree as a chef from the Swiss Culinary Academy.

In 1991, he moved to Fiji to become Sous Chef for the Regent Four Seasons Resort before taking up a position with the Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong as Sous Chef.

He later moved to the Mandarin Oriental Kahala in Hawaii as Executive Sous Chef.

In search of a challenge, he joined the six-star rated luxury cruise line Crystal Cruises as Chef de Cuisine on the exclusive Crystal Symphony and was quickly promoted to Executive Chef working across the Crystal Cruise Line fleet , a position he held for 16 years.

Markus has now dropped anchor at Outrigger-owned and managed Castaway Island and is looking forward to blending his global experience with the Asian, Indian and Fijian flavours for which the resort’s cuisine is famed when he begins work on May 9, 2015.

 

3. Spathis replaces Bennett at helloworld

Helloworld Limited has announced a slight change to its board of directors, as Peter Spathis steps in to replace Stephen Bennett.

Bennett, who has served on the board since 2011, announced his decision to retire from his position as non-executive director this week.

According to an ASX update, his departure comes due to ‘increased executive commitments’.

4. New addition to Etihad’s Indonesia team

Etihad Airways has appointed Mr Iwan Kip as General Manager for Indonesia, based in Jakarta.

Mr Kip, who has more than 10 years of travel industry experience, takes up the role after two years as Etihad Airways’ Manager Direct Sales and Operations for the Netherlands.

Etihad Airways’ Senior Vice President Sales, Jim Mueller, said Mr Kip will bring valuable knowledge, skill and experience to the airline’s Asia Pacific management team.

As General Manager for Indonesia, Mr Kip will report to Lindsay White, the airline’s Sydney-based Vice President for Asia Pacific South and Australasia.

Before joining Etihad Airways, Mr Kip spent 10 years in sales and marketing roles for a number of major airlines, hotel groups and travel companies.

Etihad Airways commenced services to Indonesia in March 2006. The airline currently operates 14 weekly services between Jakarta and Abu Dhabi.
