Currently celebrating its tenth year of operations, Karryon is excited to announce that highly respected editor, journalist and luxury travel media expert Katrina Holden is joining the team as Editorial Director, Luxury.

In what is a newly created role, Holden will lead a restructured storytelling area, specifically focusing on expanding Karryon’s luxury content and working closely with current Editor Mark Harada and Features Editor Gaya Avery — as well as a global pool of freelance writers and creators.

Holden will also spearhead the launch of a new consumer title and brand incorporating luxury, wellbeing and sustainability called Adventures of the Mind.

Holden is the former two-time Editor of Australia’s Luxury Travel magazine (having recently relaunched the title) and has been working in publishing, media and communications for more than two decades, spanning time at numerous print and digital B2B and B2C titles in the travel and liquor industries.

She has also been the Editor of Vacations & Travel magazine, a contracting Editor of Rex Airlines’ True Blue magazine, Editor-at-Large of Travel Monitor, and a freelance writer for brands and titles such as The Australian, Escape (The Daily Telegraph), Travel + Leisure Asia, Delicious., T Australia (The New York Times style magazine) and Broadsheet Sydney, to name a few.

During her extended time in travel media, Holden has created numerous custom content projects for travel and tourism organisations, including Scenic Luxury Cruises, Destination NSW and Tourism Australia.

“I’m incredibly excited to begin this new chapter of my career with the Karryon and Leedham team,” said Holden. “I’ve known Matt and several team members for a few years now, and I admire the company’s innovative approach, the growth of their content agency, and their focus on a sustainable, mindful and responsible travel industry — all values I am personally aligned with.

A new area of storytelling for Karryon

Founder and Head of Storytelling Matt Leedham believes now is the opportune time to expand the team and the offering to continue to deliver quality content to Karryon’s loyal audience and partners.

“I am absolutely thrilled and honoured to welcome Katrina to the team. I’ve known Katrina for some time and always admired her expertise, genuine approach, and outstanding reputation in the industry.

Outlining her vision for the role, Holden said, “I am inspired to share my luxury travel expertise across various mediums and exciting new projects currently in development. I welcome this opportunity to co-create with a team of highly talented and fun individuals and produce unique and compelling storytelling moments for our audience and partners.”
