The countdown to the travel industry’s night of nights is on as the Australian Travel Industry Association (ATIA) announces that nominations for the National Travel Industry Awards (NTIA) have hit a record high.
This year, 1,715 peer nominations were received across 35 award categories after the nomination period was extended until 5 June.
The most contested individual categories are:
- Most Outstanding Sales Executive – Land Supply with 180 nominations
- Most Outstanding Travel Agency Manager with 104 nominations
For ATAS-accredited businesses, the Most Outstanding Leisure Travel Agency – Single Location category received the most nominations, with 62. The Most Popular River Cruise category stands out among supplier awards, with 53 nominations.
Nominees will be contacted via email to accept or decline their peer nomination and proceed with the awards process.
“This year’s record-breaking number of nominations shows NTIA engagement has never been stronger,” ATIA CEO Dean Long said.
“The high level of engagement and the sheer number of nominations reflect the anticipation and excitement of Australia’s travel businesses for NTIA 2024.
“We look forward to honouring finalists and winners in October after what is going to be a rigorous judging process given the sheer scale of this year’s NTIA nominations.”
Meanwhile, ATIA has announced the key dates in the lead-up to the awards gala on 26 October.

- 20 June 2024 — Nomination acceptance emails issued and entrant guidelines published
- 1 July 2024 — Submission portal open
- 21 July 2024 — Submission portal closes
- 22 July 2024 — Industry voting commences
- 9 August 2024 — Industry voting concludes
- Late August 2024 — NTIA Finalists announced
- September 2024 — Virtual Judging Interviews
- 25 October 2024 — Beyond Borders Travel Summit, and NTIA Finalist Celebration
- 26 October 2024 — NTIA Gala Dinner and Awards Presentation
