Karryon is privileged to unveil the panellists for the inaugural Open Mindset event: Penny Spencer, Tania Myles and Pete Rawley. In an industry of true travel leaders, influencers and just downright lovely people, these individuals are pretty awesome. And they’re willing to share their experiences with the lucky attendees of the first Open Mindset event.
The travel industry is well and truly back on its feet. But sometimes it can feel like those feet are running so fast we don’t have time to consider our wellbeing. The first Open Mindset event wants to bring the importance of our wellbeing into the spotlight. In a panel moderated by Karryon founder Matt Leedham, Penny, Tania and Pete will provide their perspectives, recount personal experiences, and highlight the strategies they’ve integrated into their professional endeavours and life journeys to emphasise the importance of mental wellbeing.

Tania Myles, TravelManagers, Marketing Manager
Tania has 20 years in the travel, tourism and hospitality industry. Having started out in the vibrant environment of a reservations call centre she worked her way into a fulfilling marketing career. She now leads the marketing team at TravelManagers Australia where she has been for eight years.
Working in an industry based on her favourite pastime and believing in the product she is promoting is what keeps her passionate about the work she does. She also has an extra soft spot for small business so she loves supporting TravelManagers’ network of personal travel managers.
Tania is passionate about mental wellness and openness in both the workplace and our personal lives.
Pete Rawley, Evolution Travel Collective, CEO & Co-Founder
Pete has nearly three decades of experience in senior leadership roles within prominent multi-brand companies like Peregrine/Geckos Adventures, G Adventures, and the Intrepid Group. And is a skilled brand and business builder in the APAC B2B retail sector.
Currently, Pete serves as the CEO & Co-Founder of Evolution Travel Collective, an innovative B2B representation business.
He’s a recognised figure in the industry, passionate about expanding his professional network and nurturing industry relationships. Pete is committed to fostering a highly engaged team and maintaining a respectful company culture.
Penny Spencer, Spencer Travel, Managing Director
Since founding Spencer Travel in 1998, Penny has created a workplace culture renowned for its legendary Diamond Club. This is a staff reward and recognition program that bestows one-carat diamonds on staff who reach 10 years of continuous employment. Not surprisingly, many of Penny’s staff have only ever had one employer.
A passionate advocate for mentoring, Penny founded the not for profit Travel Industry Mentoring Experience (TIME) in 2009 to develop the future leaders of Australia’s travel industry.
Now adding author to her growing list of achievements, Penny has published Love What You Do and Never Work a Day in Your Life – a book about business success and career progression in any industry.
